Mob Mentality – The first crowd-driven series

We've been in "stealth" mode getting ready to move into production on the first crowd-driven web series - Mob Mentality. Unlike a Hollywood produced series or even an independent production, this series is being created by an international collaborative team of artists, who actually own the finished video. Fans, enthusiasts and critics will also have a chance to participate and shape the direction of each episode interactively.

The audience will have a chance to participate!

MoviePals Open Cinema will distribute the finished series and share the revenue with the creators. We’ve had to meet with lawyers, create revenue sharing agreements, and complete a plan for tracking who does what and how the entire process will work.

I'm Solomon Rothman, the CEO of MoviePals Open Cinema, but I’m contributing to this series as a collaborative filmmaker on par with everyone else and I’ll be completing tasks using the same system as everyone else. I'm currently putting together "intro" videos, finishing up the paperwork we're going to need and creating a step by step walk thru of the entire process. Soon MoviePals will pull the trigger and start actively building the production team.

MoviePals is building the first online film studio to distribute original films and series created by mass collaboration. We've been in stealth mode recently getting ready to launch the first crowd driven series where the collaborative artists involved actually own the finished production and MoviePals is a distributor. The fans also have a chance to participate and shape the film. Since not every contribution will be accepted by MoviePals it was important for us to post some quality gudielines. Now we know everyone hates reading guidelines so we wrote these in a more entertaining way. This is version 1, we need your input, please send us additional jokes interspersed with valuable tips

It's hard to say what makes a script, video, or performance great, but easy to know what makes something suck.  A great video is one that captivates its audience long enough to sit through most of it before their ADD kicks in and they begin watching two other programs while trying to text and occasionally tweeting that they’ve updated their face book profile… or is it?  Do large budgets and fantastic production crews make something great?  If you've watched the latest Hollywood rehashed super duper remake of the same old thing, you know the answer to that one.  If you've been on YouTube today, as in the last 6 hours, you also know that the production elements from some of the most watched videos would not make it past a University production, but people still like to watch and even occasionally an accidental masterpiece rises up from a no budget production.  By using mass collaboration MoviePals is combining the talents and passions of all these creative people to build the right team.  By keeping and building off of what’ s good and discarding everything else we’ll end up with great movies that entertain, inspire and shock our audience.
